The Internet Means Everyone…

January 28, 2009 — Leave a comment

I had a conversation with a member of my family tonight who works for a nationwide wireless internet provider. This person’s boss recently asked them if “all pastors are thieves.”

Where did this notion come from? He got that idea as he watched ministry people asked each other for the usernames and passwords for his company’s service on Twitter.
And then there’s THIS STORY by David Henderson (and the follow-ups HERE and HERE).
All I can say is… wow!
As I tell my interns: the Internet is everyone. You say it on the Internet and you’re saying it to everyone… in the world. Is what you say representative of who you are? If you are a Christian, is it representative of Christ?
I’m no angel. I have made my share of stupid Twitter comments that should have been direct rather than for public consumption. I’ve written stupid things on my blog that I later took down or just wish I hadn’t written.
Before you put it on Twitter… think.
